i hate you, eyjafjallajokull!

i'm leaving for london on monday and of course a stupid volcano in iceland decides that after 200 years of being dormant it wants to shoot up a bunch of ash and crap and ruin my life.
honestly, if this volcano business doesn't stop soon....
it better die before i get on that plane to europe.
why couldn't this volcano happen at the end of my trip? and then i could have been stuck in europe for a while...lame.

video of the week:

i like florence + the machine. i heard about her fall 08, and could not stop listening to the dog days are over. her full length album lungs is pretty wonderful. and i enjoy this video alot, she's quite quirky and bizarre but i like her just the same.

food of the week:

TACO BUS.
rexburg, idaho.
okay, so i used to live like a block away from the taco bus last summer, but i never went.
and i honestly don't know why.
wait, no i do. i didn't want to get sick and die.

i was actually surprised.
i'm kind of picky and don't like lots of meat, beans, or greasy things to eat. i ordered a pork quesadilla. quite delicious. i ate about half of it and then noticed all of the grease that was continuously dripping from my tortilla...and i couldn't eat anymore.

after the taco bus, my friends and i continued on to a bonfire, which took a 20 minute drive on a bumpy dirt path to the best spot. yeah, i thought i was going to puke everywhere on everyone. but i survived....lets see if i venture to that bus again...
p.s....i have no idea who those people are. i think i'm going to start taking all of my photographs for my blog, since i got a snazzy new camera. i think those are just random mormon folk.

book of the week:
i'm still reading alice's adventures in wonderland, i've just been mad busy with my europe/art classes.
so, i'm going to suggest a book i recommended to my friend ashley tonight.

now, you may see this title and cover and think, oh great a novel for a 15 year old about being called ugly, or being not in the clique in highschool. you are wrong.

have you read brave new world? (love that book.) or 1984?
this book is kind of similar.
i was never much into sci-fi (or syfy as it is on tv now).
but this book is so great.
and after uglies, you read the rest--pretties, specials, and extras.
i actually haven't read extras yet, but the rest are great reads. so put twilight down and pick up uglies.

car of the week:
look at that real wood paneling!
i don't know what it is...i just love wood.
and i have a thing for old antique-like cars.
maybe i'll marry a guy who really really likes cars and is like tim-the-tool-man-taylor and wants to restore old cars...and he can make me one like this.

artist of the week:
GUSTAV KLIMT.

the kiss.
yeah, i'm sure you've seen this, it's quite popular.
and it's one of the good rare ones where they're clothed.
in my art class we've been researching work we'll see while in europe, and this is one of the pieces i did a presentation on....
only to find out that some stupid family traced their line back to klimt and claimed some of his work to belong to their family...and took it out of the belvedere palace in austria. jerks.

i just love the contrast of 3d and 2d in the painting. and the patterning.
and the gold.

i love this, i want a large framed one in my bedroom when i grow up.

musician(s) of the week:
this is the magazine picture i have on my door.

i've been a fan of manchester orchestra ever since my visit to memphis almost two years ago. i heard their album 'i'm like a virgin losing a child' and was amazed.
i saw them at st. pat's last year, and i was kind of disappointed because they only performed new songs no one knew and the drunk columbian audience didn't care about them.

this week walking on campus a song came on and i swear it went along perfectly with my steps for a good while, and it started my day off well.

creation of the week:
i haven't had much time this week to create, well, that's a lie. i made some more headbands, but they weren't too different from the ones i've made and posted on here before. so....
since i've moved back to rexburg, i've been reunited with my belongings, and i found some of my art from my oil class last semester. so...i'm posting an old creation that i found this week.

p.s. keep in mind, this was taken with a cell phone.

side-note.
i leave for europe in ONE WEEEEEEK.
i could not be more excited.
any tips? suggestions of things to see.

here are a few things i want to do on my own, outside of the group tours and museums....
platform 9 3/4.
fleet street (sweeney todd).
phantom of the opera opera house.
abbey road.
find banksy art.
notting hill.
trevi fountain.
moulin rouge.
places where sound of music was filmed.
too bad i can't go to Kendal Castle, in the town of Kendal, go to Kendal museum, in Cumbria.
