i met jenny lewis.

hello blogworld. i've missed you. i kept thinking that i'd have all this time on my semester off to blog, and sew, and paint. but alas, i work almost 50 hours a week. and workout daily. i've started one painting, made one pair of skinny jeans and one small book, and haven't blogged once. i'll do better.

also, i've decided my 'of the weeks' are too long.
i'm eating alot healthier these days and the only car i'm really interested in these days is a '89 jeep wagoneer with wood paneling. so for the time being, say goodbye to food and cars.

book of the week:

















alice in wonderland is my favorite book. and i found an old edition of the book at an antique store, from 1908. this sparked my interest in collecting. i have 8 alice in wonderland books, all the lewis carroll story, and most the sir john tenniel illustrations. they range from 1904 to 1974, that one sure is psychedelic.

this fun work is by artists chrissy angliker from switzerland. she studied in the states in new york. you can say or think what you want, but i love the colors so much.

musician(s) of the week:
brandon flowers. his solo album flamingo came out earlier this month.
if you like the killers, chances are you'll like this album. (and i like the killers, so glad i saw them before their hiatus) i find his album less flashy and more soulful than most of the killers' music. and if you thought it was possible to sing more about how awesome las vegas is....you were wrong.























creation of the week:
like i said, i haven't had much time to create anything since i've been home. this is something i made last year, and use daily. it's my laptop cover/desk mat. cute right? everything i used to make it was vintage or recycled. i don't buy fabric by the yard, pft.

no i did not spend $110 on those on the left. and i didn't even spend $48 on those on the right. i spend $15 on them. and i still haven't worn them yet. it's amazing to me how "in" oxfords are these days. vans even has some out in brown and black.

side note of the week:
i met my favorite female musician, jenny lewis!
i went to a jenny and johnny concert in north carolina with some friends on thursday, and we stayed after maybe for 15 minutes. and met and spoke to her. along with jonathon rice, and...kirsten dunst?!!? she's dating their drummer...so weird.
