home is wherever i'm with you.

it has been a rainy and stupid summer so far. i went camping for memorial weekend and...yup...it snowed. idaho is kind of a ridiculous state. and now it's just always raining and way to windy for comfort. i'm just looking ahead for when i can fly home to south carolina and play and lay out in my pool and be with my family. although, without humidity, the summer nights here are all kinds of wonderful.

video of the week:
[for some reason blogspot is too lame to let me upload any of my europe videos, i will try and get some of them up, they're all so great and show of the scenery way better than my photographs.]
but, this is 'blessa' by toro y moi.
he's from columbia south carolina, and i recognize lots of folks in his video from ctown. this video makes me want to come home. and also, find a way to actually buy his album.

food of the week:
in france we went to some darling little pastry shops. one was angelina's, and there i got the best hot chocolate of my entire life. it was a stupidly rainy and dreary day in paris after we left the louvre and the hot chocolate made the day more wonderful. every sip was like a teaspoon of delicious french chocolate. i could only take a sip each time i drank, and then i had to take my time drinking it all. by the time i had a few sips left i thought i had eaten 12 chocolate bars, it was so rich.

book of the week:
this was a book i wish i had purchased. i spent so loooong in the louvre that by the time i was done i just needed to get out. the shop wasn't that amazing and so i just perused and didn't purchase anything. but this book included so many of my favorite paintings and i think i will buy it from barnes and noble once i...um..have money.

car of the week:

this is a darling little white fiat i saw in florence, italy.
why are these cars so freaking adorable? it's just little, and white, and bug like but still boxy. just perfect. i'm going to import this.

artist of the week:
i was lucky enough to get a few people on the trip that didn't absolutely hate modern art to go with me to the tate modern in london. in the gallery i saw a lot of matisse, picasso, and then i danced around in the warhol room.
the artist is andy warhol.
if you've heard of pop art, then you would know that andy warhol was one of the major front runners of this art movement. if you're familiar with the velvet underground, you'll recognize:

i have alot of warhol in my room. i just love the bright colors and simplicity.

musician(s) of the week:

pete yorn and scarlett johansson.
i have enjoyed their collaboration album since it came out last year. and lately, probably because it's summer and i've been listening to a lot of music that fits my outdoor in the hot in a sun dress mood. and their album breakup just makes me smile. pete yorn is a wonderful musician and his music and scarlett's twangy voice really make for great music. one of my favorites, and the one i over over played when i got the album is 'blackie's dead'. their single 'relator' is great as well.

creation of the week:

i'm in an incredible book arts/binding class...it's honestly from 5-9pm almost every day. but it's still so great, and i'll be putting up some of the books i make in that class, as my weekly creations.
but in the meantime, i've been baking lately. my wonderful aunt came to visit last week-ish. and while she was here we made these adorable and delicious cupcakes. they're so cute, and look just like flowers when the colors work together.

side note of the week:
i need to go to a concert. it's been a while since i've been to a great show. well...not including that mozart orchestral performance in austria. ha. before that it was the ben folds show.
i wanted to go to bonnaroo so much...but alas, i'll just wait for next summer, hopefully the line up will be as wondrous as this summer's.
next week mates of state of performing in utah....anyone?
and then there is a giant lillith fair concert with ingrid michaelson, metric, kesha, rhianna, and some. too bad it's lillith fair.
i suppose i'll just hold off, and save my monies. until i can see tegan and sara in september once i'm back in the south. anyone want to drive to rexburg and pick me up for a show?
