breaking up with spring.

it's spring break. and i'm ready for spring, but even more, i'm ready for summer. i'm going to miss you tights, and boots. but i'm ready to welcome my sandals and sundresses back.
i've been driving with my windows down, music blasting, and have had so many urges to go find a hammock.

video of the week:
my dad showed me this video. and i laughed. again, i'm not huge into politics but this is just funny. i think the best is when jim carey shows up and like floats around. gosh, i will forever love him.

food of the week:
icedream cones.
so i was sick this weekend. the third time since i've been home that i've been sick. it was lame. and the only thing that brough comfort to my throat was icecream.
and i got some chicfila chicken noodle soup one day, and then bought like two cups of this icecream. gosh, it's the best. and hey, it's like 100 calories or something great like that.

book of the week:
so, i think i read this freshman year in highschool, maybe even 8th grade. ha. but i was desperate for a good read the other night. i found my house set of harry potter books, but didn't really have the desire to get back into them because the movies distort my imagination. and i had already read my magazine articles for the month. so i surveyed my parent's bookshelves. i decided to not read my dad's cowboy stories or my mom's glenn beck books. so i check out my sister's bookshelves, and found some of my old favorites. i enjoyed sarah dessen books, and found out i still do. they're easy reads, i read this lullabye in a few days. but it's just a sweet story.
any suggestions for what i should pick up at the library next?

car of the week:

nissan figaro. i'm so glad you exist(ed).
how darling is this car? i love the color, and 1960 retro look. and the tires.

artist of the week:

yellena. another portland artist. i found her on etsy, one of the many days i spend on there. i just love what she creates, and the colors and textures. she's an artist and illustrator, showing in galleries over the globe. she has also done illustration work for my favorite store, anthropologie.

musician(s) of the week:

okay. so there are three musicians this week.
last monday when i quickly glanced at the freetimes i saw that jenny owen youngs was coming to the white mule. this excited me. she's one of my favorite jennys.
although, i think only 20 other columbians noticed she was coming/knew who she was.
she played a really great show. it was so entertaining. she was so funny, like her music was brilliant, and she's got such great pipes, but in between EVERY song she talked for like three or more minutes, and she's hilarious.

she played with her friend/fellow musician bess rogers. she was so talented. she wrote some wondrous music, and then she told us about her side project of taking 80's pop songs and re-doing them acoustic/folk/country style. and performed a def leppard song. it was so great. i bought her cd, it's so good.

and their opener was emily lynch.
i think she was from charlotte. i'm glad she came down to share her music. she was way more folk/americana than the other girls. i just loved every second of her performance. i can not wait for her cd. her songs gave me chills.
she also has worked with andy hull of manchester orchestra on some music, and she performed one of his songs he gave to her, and it was so great, and raw.
i was really glad i went to this show. i'm glad i noticed it in the freetimes. i like the white mule, i am glad that there is a venue like that in columbia. i get so tired of newbrookland and headliners, and those bands.

listen to these ladies, really. they're wonderful musicians.

creation of the week:

so, in addition to all the mediums i've made headbands with, crocheted, and sewing with silk ribbons and fabric, and feathers, i've started using the easiest of them all. FELT.
i made these two on sunday. the gray one i actually made like 5 of in different colors. and i'm going back to joann's this weekend to get more elastic and beads to make more felt headbands. now, not that my blog will start working like etsy, but if you like these let me know, and we can work a bargain. i'm learning how to make all different sorts of felt flowers and designs.

side note: i still don't know what my life is going to be like in the next three months. next month, lets see, actually 40 days from now i'll be flying to london. to start my study abroad europe humanities trip. this is for certain. my 1,000 in the bank for the final payment makes me sure of it (work, work, work!) but after that. who knows. byu? provo...? scad? usc? i'll just have to wait and see.
